“Paris is always a good idea”

                                           -Audrey Hepburn

Be it in ‘Love in the Afternoon’ or ‘Paris when it sizzles’- one of the hugely adored and celebrated actresses of Hollywood, Audrey Hepburn, glamorized the beauty that Paris is. The capital of France, a major attraction of Europe, Paris is the holy destination for artists, topmost priority of travelers, Disneyland for the fashion buffs!

The “La-Ville-Lumiere” (the city of lights) is also extremely famous for the multiple use of it as a favorite backdrop and setting for Hollywood hits. There are a myriad of movies that skillfully display the artistic, elegant, vintage, and romantic hues that Paris dazzles with.

Redefining romance in the Seine-

Richard Linklater’s epic creation ‘Before Sunset’, a sequel of the huge hit ‘Before Sunrise’, breaks the monotony of the traditional Hollywood Romances by creating a love story with brains. The backdrop of Paris not only retained the foundation of the story but lent it a touch of the serenity that the love depicts.

Leads of the movie Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy) can be seen taking a beautiful stroll around the alleys of the city. Beginning from the famous bookstore Shakespeare and Co., chilling in the Le Pure Café, the duo rekindle the romance in a boat ride on the Seine River.

Linklater’s selection of Paris as a setting for the film does justice to the movie and makes it a wonderful watch!

Ron Howard’s thriller The Da Vinci Code, based on the worldwide famous novel of the same title by Dan Brown, portrays the gothic charisma of Paris. Glimpses of the Saint Sulpice church makes the viewers gasp in wonder.

So does the fascinating brief tour of the Louvre museum! Paris comes alive with its mystic appearance. The movie sparks genuine interest in the minds of history and art lovers around the globe.

The 2011 hit Monte Carlo is a light watch of a romantic comedy and portrays Paris as sunlit and shimmering, and vividly beautiful.

Whether the leads of the movie, Grace (Selena Gomez), Emma (Katie Cassidy), and Meg (Leighton Meester) are seen chit chatting on a tourists’ viewpoint in the Eiffel Tower or taking a brief pause to admire the breathtaking view of the city from the entrance of the Sacre Coeur; the insanely beautiful Paris keeps lingering in the minds of the audience in bits!

The best that the city has to offer-

Woody Allen’s 2011 hit Midnight in Paris displays the best of Paris in a whimsical manner. The fanciful frames are fascinating to the extreme. The lead of the film, Gil (Owen Wilson), is seen moving around the beautiful spots like St. Etienne du Mont church, and the Monet’s Garden. Places like the palace of Versailles, the Restaurant Polidor are also glimpsed to stun the audience.

Apart from all of these insanely beautiful places, Paris offered the Pont de Bir-Hakeim Bridge for striking visual effects to the highly acclaimed Hollywood hit Inception by Christopher Nolan, and the exquisite view of the Water Nymph fountains in the heart of the Place de la Concorde (one of the major public squares in the city) in the film The Devil Wears Prada.

As is, Paris does not require an introduction but the amazing shots and views of the city in these Hollywood hits are definitely bound to make you fantasize about it a tad bit more! Paris is proven to be sensational and sizzling time and again. Hollywood just cannot help but acknowledge the fact, get lost in the city's charms and portray the best of Paris as a backdrop to some of its finest films.
