We, Chalten Technology Private Limited, hereinafter referred to as WatStory, value your trust & respect your privacy.
Information WatStory May Collect
We collect information about what WatStory pages you visit, information about your mobile device (such as device or browser type or operating system), information you provide (such as through registration including email address or for notification purposes such as email, mobile number), the URLs of websites that refer you to WatStory, and e-mail addresses of those who communicate with us via email.
When you register for WatStory account by authenticating via a third-party service like Twitter or Facebook, we may collect, store, and periodically update data about your contact lists associated with the specific third-party account, so that we can make it easy for you to connect with your existing followers or friends from that service who are also on WatStory. We may also collect data such as your name, picture, gender, location, interests, primary email and reading habits from these third party services so as to provide you a more personalized experience on WatStory.
We collect and store your Internet Protocol address when you log into WatStory services or load a web page. This information may be used to fight spam and malware; to enhance and personalize WatStory services for you; or to generate aggregate, anonymized information as to how people use WatStory services. We may also collect other system information such as a unique device ID, version of software installed, system type and search query used to locate content on our platform.
A cookie is a small piece of text sent to and saved by your web browser when you access a website. Cookies often include an anonymous unique identifier.
Most browsers have an option for disabling cookies, but if you disable cookies you won’t be able to log into your account, and won’t be able to use the vast majority of WatStory Services.
Our platform is designed for public content and is not private by nature. Whatever you publish on our platform is public by default. Although the draft content you create before publishing is currently only accessible by you, you should assume that any content you provide us may become publicly accessible.
Content published and shared through WatStory is publicly accessible and everyone, including search engines will be able to see it. This content may also be copied and shared by others throughout the Internet.
Emails and Notifications
Occasionally WatStory may need to email you administrative information, inform you about your account or changes to our services, or update you on new policies. These administrative emails are considered a basic part of our Services, and you may not be able to opt out from receiving them. You can always opt out of non-administrative emails.
We will never email you to ask for your password or other account information. If you receive such an email, send it to us at
firstname.lastname@example.org so we can take appropriate action.
You may be able to change the other activity notifications you receive and their associated delivery mechanism by visiting notification settings under your account.
We may use the information that you provide or that we collect to operate, maintain, enhance, and provide WatStory services. We may also track user-generated content and users to the extent necessary to comply as a service provider with necessary laws.
We may use the information we collect to monitor site usage like page views; to provide such metrics to users as regards the specific user’s uploaded content; and to track your submissions, and status in any promotions or other activities.
Watstory uses third-party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology we need to run WatStory. Although WatStory owns the code, databases, and all rights to the WatStory application and services, you retain all rights to your content.
We maintain two types of logs: server logs and event logs.
Server logs: Our servers automatically record the page request made when you visit our sites. These server logs may include your web request, IP address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request, and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. We will delete all server logs after 9 months or earlier.
Event logs: Our event logs record user actions on the site, such as clicking through stories or scrolling. Event logs do not contain IP addresses, user names, user addresses, or user email addresses. They do contain user IDs generated by WatStory, as well descriptions of action users take on the site. We may keep event logs indefinitely.
Disclosure of your information
The information we collect is used to provide and improve our Services and content and prevent abuse. We don’t sell personal information about our users to any third party.
While WatStory endeavors to provide the highest level of protection for your information, we may share your personal information with third parties in limited circumstances, such as if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with state and national laws or respond to a court order, judicial or other government order, or warrant in the manner required by the requesting entity. We reserve the right to disclose user information in case we believe, in good faith, is necessary or appropriate: to protect WatStory from fraudulent, abusive or unlawful uses; to take precautions against liability; to defend ourselves against third party allegations; to assist government enforcement agencies; to protect integrity and security of the platform; or to protect rights, property or safety of WatStory, our users or others.
WatStory uses commercially reasonable safeguards to secure your personal information. However, no transmission over the Internet is 100% secure and so we can not guarantee the absolute security of your data. Once we receive your transmitted information, we make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure the security of our systems. But, this does not represent a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed or destroyed by breach of our safeguards. If we learn of a security breach we may attempt to notify you so that you may take suitable steps. We may post a notice on our platforms if a security breach occurs.
In all cases, you use the service at your own risk, and you are responsible for taking reasonable measures to secure your account such as keeping your password secret.
You are free to remove published content from your account, or even delete your account. However, considering the fundamentally open nature of the Internet, and technological limitations inherent to WatStory Services, copies of your content may exist elsewhere indefinitely, including in our systems.
If you are under 13 years of age then please do not access or use our services in any manner whatsoever. WatStory Services are not intended for children under 13.
We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at email@example.com. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take appropriate steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account.
Visitors to WatStory from European Economic Area or other Non-U.S. or other Non-India territory must note that any data you enter or share with us will be transferred outside the European Economic Area or such other Non-U.S. or Non-India territory for use by WatStory and our worldwide business units and affiliates. By providing us data and using our services you expressly consent to such transfers of data to United States, India or other countries for use by WatStory and its business units and affiliates.
Merger, Sale or Change of Control
In case of WatStory being acquired or merged with a third-party entity, we reserve the right, in any of these circumstances, to transfer or assign the information that we have collected from users as part of the aforesaid merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control.
Information and account modification
If you are a registered WatStory user, you can access or modify your personal information by visiting your profile. You can also delete your account by sending us an email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In order to protect information from accidental or malicious damage, after you delete information from our services, we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.
Policy Changes and Updates
We may periodically update this policy. We will notify you about significant changes in this policy by sending a notice to the email address (email address received from user at time of registration or listed by user in user profile) you specify or by placing a notice on our site. Your continued usage will mean acceptance of changes in this policy. If you object to any changes in the policy, you must cease using WatStory Services and delete your account.
